Four Consecutive Sweeps for Squash Teams

Deerfield squash teams earned their fourth consecutive sweep by defeating Exeter on the road on Saturday to remain perfect in the month of February.

Since returning from the 2019 HEAD US High School Team Championships at the beginning of the month, the Big Green squash teams have been on a roll; extending their winning streak and building upon their success achieved at the national championship tournament. At the national tournament, the boys varsity squash team earned bronze in the top national division and the girls varsity squash team finished the tournament in fourth place in the country. In their first appearance at the event, the Deerfield boys JV squash team won the 3rd Division bracket.

In the month of February, boys varsity squash has defeated Avon, Andover, Taft and Exeter while only conceding three games out of the 28 played. The boys JV squash team has earned wins against Avon, Andover, Eaglebrook and Exeter maintaining their perfect 16-0 season record.

The girls varsity squash team has not given up a single game in their regular season play this month, defeating Loomis, Andover, Taft and Exeter by perfect 7-0 victories. JV girls squash has won all four of their contests this month, defeating Miss Porter’s, Andover, Loomis and Exeter to further their flawless season record, 13-0.

According to the New England Interscholastic Squash Association, with a record of 17-3  the boys are ranked 2nd behind Brunswick and the girls are ranked 3rd with their season record of 12-3. For the girls, Greenwich is ranked first and Choate is second.

In their final week of the season, the varsity and JV teams will face-off against Choate this Wednesday. The varsity teams will compete at home and the JV teams will be away to close out their seasons. After Wednesday’s matches, the varsity squads will shift their focus to the New England Championships taking place this weekend, 2/22 to 2/24. Andover will host the boys championship tournament and Choate will host the girls tournament. Good luck!
