The sun was shining and spring temperatures were in the air for Spring Family Weekend. Deerfield teams took advantage of the perfect conditions and family cheers to go 7-0 against Taft teams on Saturday. Overall, the Big Green teams posted an impressive 13-3-1 weekend record.
Meaghan O’Brien pitched a perfect game, earning 13 strikeouts to lead the softball team to their first defeat over the Rhinos in at least 10 years, 3-0. The Big Green softball squad remains undefeated this season, 4-0, and will welcome Ethel Walker to the Pioneer Valley on Wednesday at 3:30pm.
Varsity golf notched another point in the win column on Saturday, defeating the Rhinos in a head-to-head match play outing, 6-3, extending their win streak to 6 games.
All four lacrosse teams earned wins on Saturday, collectively outscoring the Rhinos 48-18. With Saturday’s win, the girls varsity lacrosse team extended their winning streak to 4-games and marked the second game this season in which they won by a double-digit goal differential. Earlier in the week, the Big Green defeated NMH 18-3. Their season record sits at 4-2 and they will travel to Williston on Wednesday for a 3pm contest against the Wildcats. Girls JV lacrosse remains undefeated this season and will put their 3-0-1 record to the test against Williston on Wednesday at 3pm.
Boys varsity lacrosse is on a 5-game winning streak, with their only loss of the season coming in their opening game against Brunswick. Tomorrow, the Big Green will travel to Loomis for a 3:30pm match up. Boys JV lacrosse is also on a 5-game winning streak and the win over the Rhinos was their first shut out of the season. They too will travel to Loomis tomorrow for a 3:30pm game against the Pelicans.
The JV golf team earned the seventh win against Taft to defeat the Rhinos, 231-234 in a stroke play match-up.
