Deerfield softball kept its undefeated season going with a 3-0 win against Taft. Leading the team was Meaghan O’Brien who pitched a perfect game, which included 13 strikeouts. She also ripped two doubles – one down the third base line and another to right. Suzy Mazur had another great double and Kat Hioe tripled as well which contributed to the team win. This was Deerfield’s first time beating Taft in at least 10 years.
The Big Green softball squad holds a 4-0 record this season. Earlier last week, the varsity team defeated Stoneleigh-Burnham 13-7 on the road. Their other two season wins came at home against Worcester Academy, 10-9, and Choate, 9-6.
Last season, softball clinched the #5 spot in the Class A WNEPSGSBA Tournament for the first time since 2006 with a 10-4 regular season record. Also, it was the first time in over 10 years that the team posted a double-digit win season.
The team will return to action on Wednesday, April 25 at 3:30pm against Ethel Walker.
