Dear New and Returning Parents and Guardians, I want to take the opportunity of this letter to welcome each of our new families—215 strong! —and to offer a short update to all of our families on preparations and planning for the coming school year. Currently, we are actively preparing for the fall opening of school here on campus: guiding students to select courses, building our next cohort of school leaders, moving our housing assignment process

March 31: An Important Message from Dr. Austin

March 31: An Important Message from Dr. Austin from Deerfield Academy on Vimeo. Dear Parents and Students, I write to you with my best wishes—and a promised update. I am delighted to have this opportunity to welcome you to campus for our Fall Family Weekend. I want to start by thanking you for entrusting your children to us and for allowing us to play such a meaningful role in their education and development. Deerfield is enriched every day by the voices, perspectives, and experiences that each of your children brings to this school.

I’ve spent some early mornings there recently, preparing for the school year, and it’s fast becoming one of my favorite spots. I sit in the reading room to the side at a small table, under the watchful portrait of Mrs. Boyden.

’67 Update

Almost 50 years after graduating in 1967 finds me still close to Deerfield Academy. I have lived in West Deerfield, operating Clarkdale Fruit Farms first with my father Fred ’29, and now with my son Ben ’96. Three years ago I moved to another house on the farm, and can now view Mt. Pocumtuck out of my kitchen window. I have enjoyed many friendships with faculty, staff, and students, and now my children continue the

Spring Potpourri

Spring potpourri: M.L. and Bruce McEwan are faring well in the Sunshine State. Bruce would like to have all of us turn out for our grand 60th Reunion next year.
