Softball Team Earns Spot in Post-Season Tournament

The Deerfield varsity softball team wrapped up their regular season slate of games yesterday with a big win over visiting Loomis. The Big Green scored runs early and rallied late to defend their home turf in a high-scoring 21-12 victory over the Pelicans. At the conclusion of yesterday’s final regular season game, the team finished with a 10-4-0 overall regular season record, which clinched them the #5 spot in the Class A WNEPSGSBA Tournament. The last time the Big Green appeared in post-season softball action was 2006.

In their opening playoff game, the Big Green will travel to Watertown, CT tomorrow afternoon to face the #4 seed Taft School. Deerfield will have the opportunity to avenge their regular season home loss to the Rhinos.

To date, the team has enjoyed a successful 2017 campaign – enjoying a double-digit win season, which marks the first time in over 10 years that the softball team has achieved this mark. We look forward to continuing to watch the team compete in the post-season! Good luck!

Go Big Green!
