Rowing Teams Primed for US Rowing Youth National Championships

The Deerfield boys and girls 1V rowing crews are primed and ready to begin their quest for a national title tomorrow, June 6 in the opening time trials at the 2019 US Rowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, FL at Nathan Benderson Park.

With less than 24 hours until this year’s 2019 US Rowing Youth National Championships kick-off with the opening races, the Big Green crews are busy getting in their final training runs on the course today.

The boys rowing 1V boat captured gold at the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championships on May 25, earning their automatic berth to the National event this week.

The Big Green collected more hardware at the NEIRA Championships as the girls 1V boat finished in second place in their grand final race for the silver medal, securing their place at this year’s National Championships, as well.

Competing in the men’s youth and women’s 4+ division, the time trials for the boys 1V boat is slated to start tomorrow, June 6 at 10:33am and the girls 1V boat time trial heats will immediately follow at 10:48am. The boys will be racing with bow #260 and the girls with bow #285.

Thursday, June 6 – Time Trials:

10:33am EST – Men’s Youth 4+

10:48am EST – Women’s Youth 4+

In the time trial, the top 8 boys boats and top 9 girls boats will advance to their respective semifinal races on Saturday, June 8. The remaining finishers will move to the Repechage races beginning Friday, June 7.
