Home Sweet Home; Boys Hockey Clinches Home Semifinal Berth

The #1 boys varsity hockey team clinched their berth into the 2019 NEPSAC Boys Hockey Martin/Earl (Large) Tournament Semifinals, by defeating #8 Avon Old Farms 4-1 in the tournament opening quarterfinal game on Wednesday. As the #1 seeded team in the championship tournament the Big Green earned home ice advantage for tomorrow’s semifinal game vs. #4 Kent.

Avon opened the game score line in first period, slipping the puck past Big Green goaltender, Thomas Gale ‘19 . In the first minute of the second period, Noah de la Durantaye ‘19, assisted by Kyle Jarosz ’20 and Mikey Holland ‘19, answered with the equalizer for the Big Green.

Holland doubled the Big Green lead in the second, assists from Tomas Zourikian ‘19, Zach Milton ‘19. Eamon Doheny ’20 added two goals in the third to secure the win for the Doors. Third goal assists to Matt Miron ’19 and Sasha Shogren ‘19; Alex Robert ’20 assisted the 4th empty net goal.

Thomas Gale earned the win in goal.

Ten days ago, the Big Green faced off against Kent in the only season meeting between the two teams. The game ended in a 4-4 OT on the road for the Doors. Kent defeated #5 Andover, 4-2, in their quarterfinal neutral site match-up.
