Deerfield Divers Finish on the Podium at New England Championship

Deerfield girl and boy divers flooded the top-16 finalists at the 2018-19 New England Preparatory School Swimming Association Division I Diving Championships on Wednesday, February 27 hosted by Deerfield Academy.

Defending New England Champion, Sydney Bluestein ’21 led the way for the girls, diving her way to a silver medal at the event. Teammate Monet Meyer ’19 finished on the podium in 4th place, Izzy McDonald ’19 finished in 12th place and Maddy Sofer was 21st out of the 30 diver field.

Teddy McCarthy ’20 led the way for the Big Green earning a personal best second place finish at the championships event. Tyler Kelly ’19 followed in 6th place and Harry Niles ‘21 finished in 12th place.

The NEPSSA DI Swimming Championships will take place this weekend at Deerfield Academy. The swimming trials will begin Saturday, March 2 at 1:30pm and the swimming finals will take place on Sunday, March 3 beginning at 10:30am.

Heading into the final event of the season for the Big Green swimming teams, the Deerfield girls enter championship weekend in first place with 37 points earned from Wednesday’s diving championships. The boys team amassed a total of 35 points at the diving championship and will begin their quest on championship weekend also in first place.

12th – Izzy McDonald (313.35)

21st – Maddy Sofer (133.20)

Boy Divers:

2nd – Teddy McCarthy (433.60)

6th – Tyler Kelly (314.85)

12th – Harry Niles (236.90)
