Girls Basketball Earns Come from Behind Win

On Wednesday in a back-and-forth game, the Big Green battled to come-from-behind in the second half to earn a win over Williston Northampton, 46-36. The home court win improves the team to .500 on the season (5-5-0).

At the half, Deerfield was down by 2 points, but they came out in the second half with fire and determination.  Through tenacious defense and poise on the free throw line, Deerfield built up a 14-point lead headed into the final three minutes of the game.  The team played smart in the final minutes to end the contest 46-36.  Freshman forward Claire Cummings stepped up in the post and led Deerfield with 16 points, while Tess Mannix came off the bench in the second half with skilled ball-handling and persistent defense.  Emma Reavis had another excellent all-around game with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals.

Next up for the Big Green is the Big Blue of Andover. The team will travel to Andover this Saturday, 1/20 for a 4:00pm tip-off.
