Bluestein Sets Exeter Pool Diving Record

At Saturday’s varsity Swimming & Diving meet at Phillips Exeter’s Roger Nekton Championship Pool, Deerfield diver Sydney Bluestein ’21 set a new pool diving record. Bluestein posted a 293.25 total score for her six dives, which broke Deerfield alum Danielle DeNunzio’s ‘12 282.95 record set in 2011.

Additionally, Saturday’s meet marked Sydney’s first diving meet win this season and of her Deerfield career. “Sydney had a great meet against Exeter last Saturday. She was calm, taking one dive at a time. It was unexpected that she broke the record, but not surprising. She dove really well and I cannot wait to see how she progresses through the rest of our season,” said Diving Coach Jason Cook.

To date this season, Sydney placed 2nd on December 13th against Minnechaug (206.175) and 3rd on January 10th against Suffield (222.80).

Currently, the girls swimming & diving team holds a 3-1 season record as they approach the halfway mark in their season. This Saturday, 1/20, the Big Green will host Choate in a dual-meet at 3:30pm. Tune in to watch Saturday’s livestreamed meet!
