Five Boys Lacrosse Players Earn Post-Season Awards

At the conclusion of the 2018 lacrosse season, five Deerfield boys varsity lacrosse players – Camden Kelleher ’18, Nolen Rockefeller ’18, Oliver Hollo ’18, Jose Boyer ’18, and Christophe Coté ’18 – received All Western New England Division I honors for their impact on the field this season.

Camden Kelleher ’18 – Attack

Camden Kelleher, a four-year standout attack player for the Big Green led the team in his senior year as a co-captain.  In 2018, he helped lead the Big Green offense who netted on average 9.87 goals per game and averaged 1.64 more goals per game than their opponents did.  Kelleher also contributed to the team’s season high goals in a game (18), which they repeated twice, first against Hotchkiss on May 5th and later that week vs. Kent on May 9th.  Next year, Kelleher will continue his lacrosse career at Tufts University.

Nolen Rockefeller ’18 – Midfield

Nolen Rockefeller, also a four-year standout for the Big Green at the challenging midfield position, co-captained this year’s squad along with Kelleher.  In the final two games of the season, Rockefeller notched six goals with four goals and an assist coming against nationally ranked No. 2 Salisbury.  He also netted two goals in the final game of the season vs. Exeter.  At the conclusion of the season, Nolen was the awarded the Benjamin C. Haviland Trophy, presented annually to that lacrosse player who has by his constant striving contributed most to both the improvement of himself and of his team.  Nolen will continue playing lacrosse at the collegiate level next year for the Brown University Bears.

Oliver Hollo ’18 – Long Stick Midfield

In his senior season, long stick midfielder Ollie Hollo’s best-game came against No. 2 ranked Salisbury, when he led a stifling defense to a 9-5 win, causing multiple turnovers swinging possession in favor of the Big Green.  Additionally, he capped off his career in Green and White scoring two goals in the season-ending win at Exeter.  Next spring, Hollo will suit up for the Harvard Crimson men’s lacrosse team.  Hollo is also a candidate for the USA Today/Gatorade AA team.

Jose Boyer ’18 – LSM/Defense

A post-graduate student-athlete committed to playing lacrosse at Notre Dame next season.  This season, the Fighting Irish qualified for the NCAA DI Men’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament and fell to Denver in the opening round.  This year, Jose was awarded the Rhodes Cup, given to that outstanding first year member of the boys varsity lacrosse team who best displays the leadership, determination, and dedication of Andrew W. Rhodes.  In addition, Jose was named an Under Armour All-American and will play in the annual UA North-South game on ESPNU on June 30.

Christophe Coté ’18 – Defense

Christophe Coté, also a Big Green post-graduate student-athlete, was a leader on this year’s defensive unit that only allowed an average of 6 goals per game this season and included a shutout against NMH. Next year, Coté will continue his lacrosse career at the University of Vermont.

This season the Big Green posted a 13-2 record, which included a nine game winning, streak and earned the 22nd spot in the week 14 Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Top 25 High School Power rankings.  They are only one of four New England preparatory school teams to be receive top-25 recognition.
