Big Green Quest for US Rowing Youth National Championship Begins Tomorrow

Tomorrow, the Big Green boats will begin their quest for a national title in the opening time trials of the USRowing Youth National Championships.  The girls boat, competing in the women’s youth 4+ division is slated for their time trial heat to start at 9:56am PST.  The men’s youth 4+ division, featuring the defending national champion Deerfield boat, will follow in their opening time trial at 10:08am PST.

The boys and girls first boat crews and coaches along with the Filippi trailer that transported the Deerfield shells across the country arrived in Gold River, CA earlier this week and their final practice strokes on Lake Natoma concluded today.

The girls time trial includes 21 boats and the boys time trial will feature 19 boats.  In opening time trials, the girls top eight finishers and the mens top six finishers will advance to their respective semifinal races on Saturday, June 9th.  The other finishers will move to the repechage races beginning on Friday afternoon.

The 2018 USRowing Youth National Championships, presented by Rancho Cordova Travel and Tourism, are being be held June 8-10, 2018, on Lake Natoma in Gold River, CA.  According to USRowing, the championships, which serve as the premier youth rowing event in the United States, sees approximately 1,500 athletes competing in more than 350 crews, representing some 150 teams from across the country – all vying for national titles in 18 boat classes.
