Field Hockey Hat Trick Lifts Big Green over Loomis

The varsity field hockey team traveled to Loomis on Saturday to take on the Pelicans on a beautiful fall day. There was a lot of back-and-forth play in the first quarter and Deerfield took advantage of the opportunity to sort some things out after the first 15 minutes of play. The Big Green found their offensive spark in the second quarter, with Bailey Miller ’24 earning a hat-trick before half time. Loomis tested Deerfield’s defense in the second half and had some good chances, but Lauren O’Donald ’22 came up with some big saves in net and Maddy Zavalick ’22 and Kate Mackenzie ’24 did an excellent job anchoring our defensive unit.

It was a full team effort to get the win and the Big Green will now look to prepare for Westminster at home this Wednesday. With Saturday’s victory the Big Green improve their season record to 5-2-1.

Go Big Green!
