The Deerfield Parents Network (DPN) welcomes you to volunteer for the First Link program for the upcoming school year of 2019-2020. As you will be aware through your own experience, the First Link program helps welcome new families to the Deerfield community by “linking” them to a current Deerfield parent volunteer. New students are connected to a current student volunteer through the Green Key program but First Link is for parents/guardians. Together, these two programs help new families by offering practical guidance and answers to their questions while creating friendships and a stronger community for all. If you are interested please sign up as a volunteer no later than Thursday, April 11th.
As a volunteer, you will be assigned to an incoming family by the Office of Admission before the end of May and would be asked to reach out and welcome them soon after. You do not need to be an expert on all things Deerfield! You just need to be willing and able to help communicate with your family before school ends in May, follow up through the year (late summer before school begins, right before Family Weekend, and some time during the winter) and help guide your family in its initial adjustment to the Deerfield community.
We also have a few other volunteer opportunities that you will see at the end of the volunteer sign up form. Please considersigning upfor one of those areas too if you are interested.
