Boys Varsity Basketball Downs St. Paul’s

On Friday night, the boys varsity basketball team jumped ahead to an early first half lead over visiting St. Paul’s and downed the Big Red, 76-68.

At the end of the first half the Big Green led the Big Red 46-27. St. Paul’s attempted a comeback in the second half outscoring the Big Green, 41-30, but it would not be enough. The Big Green prevailed and at the final whistle, the score was 76-68 in favor of the home team.

Bennett Pitcher ’21 led the team in scoring with 23 points. He was followed on the stats sheet by Deandre Ortiz ’20 who registered 16 points in the contest. Also, scoring in the double digits were James Steinberger ’20 (13), Connor Printz ’20 (10), and Ben Diffley ’20 (10).

Connor Printz led the team in assists with 11. Ben Diffley and Bennett Pitcher combined to control the paint, gathering 14 and 7 rebounds each respectively.

The Big Green return to action on Wednesday, February 26 when they face Andover for the second time this season.
