The boys varsity basketball team outlasted Nobles in their 2019 home opener, 55-48.
Playing against a disciplined and talented Noble’s squad, Deerfield put forth a tremendous effort on the defensive end, hustling and communicating on every possession. Deerfield limited Noble’s shooters to 27.8% from the field. Jackson Pitcher ’19 put the clamps on Noble’s best offensive player, while Bennett Pitcher ’21 and Jackson Selvala ’19 each grabbed 9 rebounds. Jade Tse ’19 controlled the tempo of the game from the point guard position, scoring 24 points and dishing out six assists. Bennett added 17 points, including three rim-rattling dunks. Nolan Zusi ’19 provided a needed spark off the bench, going 2 for 2 from beyond the 3-point arc.
With Wednesday’s win the Big Green improve their season record to 4-6 and will return to the court tomorrow to host Salisbury. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm and the game will be available to watch on livestream.
