Boys and Girls Varsity Squash Remain Undefeated

The Deerfield boys and girls varsity squash teams remain undefeated this season. The boys team has enjoyed a home stand to start their 2016-2017 campaign, defeating both Hotchkiss, 5-2 and Groton, 6-1 in the Dewey Squash Courts. The girls were on the road early earning 6-1 wins at both Hotchkiss and Milton. The girls were welcomed home this past Saturday with another convincing 6-1 home court win over Nobles.

Boys Varsity Squash:

The Deerfield Big Green opened their season at home, defeating Hotchkiss 5-2, both of the losses, at #1 and #3 being closely contested 3-2 losses.

The team continued its home court advantage for their second win of the season which came against Groton 6-1.  The DA #1 lost a close contest 3-2, but the team all had to play up a position due to the injury to the #1 player, who was injured in the Hotchkiss match.   A great start to the season for the Big Green!

The team will hit the road to play Loomis on the 14th, the last match before the holiday break.

Girls Varsity Squash:

The girls varsity squash team’s opener against Hotchkiss proved to be a resounding success, winning the match 6-1.   The Big Green girls hit the road again for their second squash match of the season against Milton Academy.  Again, earning a 6-1 victory on the road.

In the team’s home opener against the fierce and skillful Nobles Bulldogs, ranked #2 in New England last season, the Deerfield varsity girls prevailed once again, winning the match 6-1.  Co-captains Maddie Chai and Mimi deLisser, undefeated so far in match play, kept their streak alive and refused to give up a game to their opponents.

The team will finish its 2016 play with a home match against the Groton Zebras on Wednesday.
