Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s Athletes of the Week!

Boys JV Tennis: Noah Depp ‘21

The Boys JV Tennis athlete of the week is Noah Depp ’21.  Noah has been a dedicated, hard-working member of the team all season long.  On Wednesday, May 8, at #1 singles and doubles, Noah easily won his two matches.  On Saturday, May 11, the Deerfield JVB tennis team lost its first match.  Noah played the longest match of the day, demonstrating immense stamina and mental focus.  Although he lost his singles match in a 3rd set tie-break, he should be proud of his effort.

JV Golf: Nathan Hu ’19

Nathan shot his career best score, 41, against NMH and Kingswood Oxford last Wednesday, May 8, to help his team secure a victory.   It was Nathan‘s lowest career score at Deerfield. A three-year member of the JV team, Nathan finishes his career on this high note. Congrats, Nathan!

Girls Varsity Lacrosse: Mary Edmonds ’19

Our girls varsity lacrosse athlete of the week is Mary Edmonds.  Mary has played a central role in our team’s offensive unit this year and possesses a tremendous ability to not only challenge the goal herself, but also to feed her teammates inside the 8 meter.  Mary also brings a great sense of energy and fun to our program.

Varsity Softball: Kat Hioe ’20

Softball’s athlete of the week is Kat Hioe. She has pitched every game for us with intensity and grace. She is our number 4 hitter and has crushed the ball in many of our games. Kat is the consummate teammate and captain which has been the case not only this week, but all season.

Boys JV Lacrosse: Will Dale ’19

Will Dale is the JV boys lacrosse AOTW. Against Avon on Saturday, Will scored four of the team’s seven goals to help his team earn the victory. Congrats Will!

Boys Track & Field: Donnie Gray ’21

Donnie won the 100m and 200m, and ran a leg on the winning 4x100m relay in our meet against NMH and Exeter on Saturday.  He goes into the NEPSTA championships as a strong contender in both sprints, and his leg of the relay promises to be an exciting one on the big stage at Loomis!

Girls Track & Field: Ella Foulkes ’22

Ella earned season’s best marks in both the high jump and long jump to earn valuable points for her team in our meet against NMH and Exeter on Saturday.  She cleared 4’ 6” in the high jump for the first time and jumped just shy of 15 feet in the long jump.  With one meet left, Ella has a chance to finish a great freshman campaign with more clearances in the high jump.

JV Baseball: Sam Mackenzie ’21

The JV baseball team would like to nominate Sam Mackenzie as this week’s AOTW. Sam has caught every inning behind the plate all season, throwing out many would-be base-stealers and fielding his position well. He is a leader for us on both sides of the ball and has worked hard all season to become a better player. Sam has been our most consistent hitter all year and might put one in the river during our annual home run derby on Thursday!!!

Girls JV Lacrosse: Emily Stonestreet ’19

Emily has been a force on our attack since day one. Her powerful shot and quick crease rolls from behind have made her one of our top scorers this season. Emily has also been a leader on the field, running plays and working to recover the ball after a turnover. She brings humor and good spirit to practice each day. Emily, thank you for your energy this season!

Girls Varsity Rowing: FJ Marsh ’19

Girls’ Rowing chooses FJ Marsh as our Athlete of the Week for her never ending perseverance and positive attitude. She constantly puts the team before herself, never allowing personal hardship to get her down, and has become an amazing leader this year. Her rowing knowledge has really helped the younger girls in her boats to reach new levels. In addition to all of this, she never fails to give the whole team a good laugh and impress us with her vocals.

Girls varsity Water Polo: Andy Han ’19

Andy Han ’19 expertly and cheerfully served for two seasons as the scorekeeper for the girls’ polo team.  Though he couldn’t cheer from the scorer’s table, he was always ready before and after games to lift the players’ spirits with humor and encouragement.

Go Big Green!
