Koch Center

  • Plug HDMI cable with video adapter on the podium into the MacBook
  • Press Podium on the button panel to turn on Projector or switch input to the MacBook.
  • Use Volume dial on button panel to raise or lower speaker volume.  Volume level may also be adjusted in the application.
  • When done:
    • Unplug the cable from the MacBook.
    • Press Off on button panel.  A beep will sound when projector shuts down.

NOTE:  When using an HDMI connection for the first time, a change to the audio settings will need to be made on the MacBook.  This only needs to done once.  While connected to the HDMI cable:

  • Click on the Apple menu (top left corner of  menu bar) and select System Preferences
  • Select Sound
  • Select the Output tab
  • From the list displayed under Select a device for sound output:, select Crestron (Type will read HDMI)
  • Close the Sound window
  • The MacBook will remember this setting

Wireless projection is available through the Apple TV in the classroom.
If projecting an iPad, please go to Apple TV
If projecting a MacBook Air,  it must be running macOS 10.12.x (Sierra) or higher.

  • The MacBook Air must be connected GreenDoor
  • Power on projector by pressing On button on Epson remote
  • Press APPLE TV on Extron switcher on top of BluRay player
  • Click on AirPlay icon in menu bar at top of laptop screen (looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into bottom).
  • Select Apple TV being used (all Apple TV’s are named by room)
  • Desktop image should now be projected.
  • When done, be sure to disconnect from Apple TV so next person in room can connect.
    • Select AirPlay icon
    • Select Turn Mirroring Off

Before connecting to an Apple TV, the iPad must be connected to the GreenDoor wireless network.
To ensure the best signal quality in the classroom, it is recommended to turn off wifi on the iPad and then turn it back on.

  • Press Apple TV on button panel.  When Apple TV screen appears, move on to next steps.
  • Activate AirPlay on iPad **
    • Slide a finger up from bottom of screen
    • Select AirPlay/Screen Mirroring icon (looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into the bottom)
  • Scroll through list to select classroom (all Apple TVs are named by room)
  • Enter projected code on iPad to complete AirPlay connection
  • iPad image should now be projected.
    • If image does not appear, go back to AirPlay icon and turn Mirroring On.  In some cases, mirroring does not take the first time.
  • Volume is controlled via Volume dial on button panel, the volume toggle on iPad, and in app.

When done, be sure to disconnect iPad from Apple TV so next person can connect.

  • Go back to AirPlay on iPad
  • Select iPad to disconnect from Apple TV
  • Press Off on the button panel

** NOTE: To ensure reliable connectivity, you must be running iOS 10.x or later on your iPad.  Please contact the ITS Help Desk if you need assistance upgrading to the latest version of iOS.

  • Press Power on the Blu-Ray player remote to turn on the Blu-Ray player.  The remote is in the cabinet on top of the Blu-Ray player.
  • Press BluRay on button panel.  This will turn on the Projector or switch the input to the Blu-Ray player.
  • Press Open/Close on remote and insert disc.  Press Open/Close to close disc drawer.
  • Use Blu-Ray remote for menu functions and viewing options (Play, FF, Rewind).  Use Volume dial on button panel to control the volume.
  • When done:
    • Press Open/Close to remove disc
    • Press Power on remote to turn off the Blu-Ray player and replace remote control on top of player.
    • Press Off on button panel to turn off the projector.  A beep will sound when projector turns off.
  • Open document camera drawer on right side of podium.
  • Press Power Button on the Document Camera.
  • Place document/object to be displayed under camera
    • Document will appear on screen.  Camera will Auto-Focus on document/object
    • Note: The image may take several seconds to appear.
  • Use Controls on Document Camera for Zoom, Focus and to adjust Brightness.
  • Use Lamp Switch on camera head to toggle between 3 settings: BrightDim and Off.
  • To Freeze image – hold image on screen while changing/replacing current document/object – press and release the Camera Icon button
  • To continue with another image after Freeze, place new document under camera and press Camera Icon Button.
  • When Done:
    • Press Power button on document camera. Press Power a second time to confirm shut down.
    • Lower document camera arm and close drawer.
    • Press Off on button panel.  A beep will be heard when the projector shuts off.

Additional Features:

This document camera has the ability to take snapshots and record video of documents/objects under the camera.  In addition, the camera can be used to record video of goings on in the classroom (e.g., demonstrations, presentations).  If you are interested in using any of these features, please contact Kristopher Wiemer or Heather Sharpes-Smith for assistance.

Lights

  • All Lights in Room (All Light On/All Light Off)
  • Board Lights (Board L On/Board L Off)
  • Side Lights (Side Lights Up/Side Lights Down) – buttons on circular controls in lower right corner
  • Bench Lights (Bench Lights On/Bench Lights Off) – buttons on circular controls in lower right corner
    • ONLY in First Floor Science Classrooms

Volume

  • Turn volume knob clockwise to turn volume up; counter-clockwise to turn volume down

Shades (only in Koch 101, 201, 303, 315)

  • Shades Up/Shades Down

Screen (only in Koch 203, 205, 306)

  • Screen Up/Screen Down

Mute

  • Press Mute to hide video image
  • Press Audio Mute to silence audio

It is possible to play an audio source in a Koch Center classroom without turning on the projector and other systems.

  • Using the mini-jack cable on the podium top, plug in your audio source (e.g., laptop, iPod, iPad)
  • Press the Audio Mute button on the button panel.  The light will go out and audio will be playable through your attached device.
  • Volume is adjusted by the Volume dial on the button panel and by the volume control on your device.
  • When you are done, unplug your device and press Audio Mute again to disconnect the sound

IMPORTANT: If you are going to be using other inputs (e.g., Apple TV, projected laptop), be sure to disconnect audio source first.  If you do not do this first, you will continue to hear the audio recording over the new input.

Garonzik Auditorium

If touch panel is dark:

  • Press touch panel to wake it up
  • Press Turn System On
  • Press Make sure windows are closed before selecting a source

If touch panel is lit up:

  • Press Podium and select one of the options below:
  • HDMI Connection
    • Press HDMI
      • If touch panel was dark, this will turn on projector, trigger screen and shades to drop, and set input to HDMI.
      • If touch panel was lit up, this will change input to HDMI.
    • At podium, connect HDMI cable to MacBook.  There are three options for connecting: straight HDMI (most Windows machines and older MacBook Pros), HDMI with a Mini DisplayPort adapter (all MacBook Airs), HDMI with USB-C adapter (all new MacBook Pros).
    • Volume is controlled from the touch panel Main Volume slider.  Additional volume control via application being used.
    • When done:
      • Disconnect cable from MacBook
      • Press Power Off on touch panel
      • Press Turn Off Projector to turn off projector and to trigger screen and shades to retract

NOTE: The first time using the HDMI connection a change will need to be made to the MacBook audio settings. This will only need to be done once. Follow these steps while connect to HDMI cable:

– Click on Apple menu and select System Preferences
– Select Sound

– Select Output tab
– Select Crestron (Type will read HDMI) from displayed list under Select a device for sound output:
– Close Sound window
– The MacBook will remember this setting for the next time

  • VGA Connection
    • Press VGA
      • If touch panel was dark, this will turn on projector, trigger screen and shades to drop, and set input to VGA.
      • If touch panel was lit up, this will change input to VGA.
    • At podium, connect VGA cable to laptop.  Plug audio cable into audio port on MacBook.  VGA/Audio cable can be found in podium drawer.
    • Volume is controlled from touch panel Main Volume slider.  Additional volume control via laptop and application being used.
    • When done:
      • Disconnect VGA and audio cables and return to drawer on left side of podium
      • Press Power Off on touch panel
      • Press Turn Off Projector to turn off projector and trigger screen and shades to retract

  • When done, be sure to disconnect from the Apple TV so the next person in the room can connect.
    • Select the AirPlay icon
    • Select Turn Mirroring Off
    • Press Off on button panel

Before connecting to an Apple TV, make sure the iPad is connected to the GreenDoor wireless network.

  • Volume is controlled from Main Volume slider on touch panel and volume toggle on iPad.

When done, be sure to disconnect from Apple TV so next person in room can connect.

  • Go back to AirPlay on your iPad
  • Select iPad to disconnect from Apple TV
  • Press Power Off on touch panel
  • Press Turn Off Projector to turn off projector and trigger screen and shades to retract

  • When done:
    • Remove disc from Blu-Ray player.  Press Power button to turn off player.
    • Press Power Off on touch panel
    • Press Turn Off Projector to turn off projector and trigger screen and shades to retract

The document camera is not a permanent installation in the Garonzik.  If you need to use a document camera, please be sure to request it when reserving the room (Room Reservation Page).
If touch panel is dark:

  • Press touch panel to wake it up
  • Press Turn System On
  • Press Make sure windows are closed before selecting a source

When touch panel is lit up:

  • Press Podium
  • Press Document Camera.  This will turn on projector, lower screen and shades, and switch input to Document Camera.
  • Open drawer on left side of podium
  • Press Power Button on the Document Camera.
  • Place document/object to be displayed under camera
    • Document will appear on screen.  Camera will Auto-Focus on document/object
    • Note: The image may take several seconds to appear.
  • Use Controls on the Document Camera for Zoom, Focus and to adjust Brightness
  • Use Lamp Switch on Camera Head to toggle between 3 settings Bright, Dim and Off

      • Most Commonly Used
        • Turn Lights On/Off
        • User 2 (proper lighting for presentations, most commonly used for Faculty Meeting)
        • Movie (lights off in room except floor lights)
      • Other Options
        • Presentation (lights off over screen, all other lights on)
        • Video Conference (lights off over screen, all other lights on)
        • Panel (all lights on)
        • User 1, 3-6 (not programmed)

Koch 104

HDMI – MacBook & most Windows Laptops

  • Plug HDMI cable with video adapter on the cart into the MacBook
  • Power on flat panel via the Power button on NEC remote
  • Press SOURCE button on NEC remote
  • Select HMDI 1
  • Audio is controlled via NEC remote and application
  • When done:
    • Unplug the cable from the MacBook.
    • Press Power on NEC remote

NOTE:  When using an HDMI connection for the first time, a change to the audio settings will need to be made on the MacBook.  This only needs to done once.  While connected to the HDMI cable:

  • Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences
  • Select Sound
  • Select the Output tab
  • From the list displayed under Select a device for sound output:, select NEC (Type will read HDMI)
  • Close the Sound window
  • The MacBook will remember this setting

VGA – Some Windows Laptops

  • Plug VGA cable on the cart into the Laptop
  • Plug Audio cable on the cart into the Laptop
  • Power on flat panel via the Power button on NEC remote
  • Press SOURCE button on NEC remot
  • Select PC
  • Volume controlled via NEC remote, the laptop, and the application
  • When done:
    • Unplug the cables from the MacBook
    • Press Power on NEC remote

Koch 213 – Conference Room (2 flat panel displays)

Koch 213 is equipped with two flat panel displays.  A single source can be displayed to one flat panel or both.
HDMI (MacBooks and newer Windows Laptops)

  • To project to a single flat panel, press HDMI1 in either Left or Right row depending on needs
  • To project to both flat panels, press HDMI1 in both Left and Right rows
  • Plug HDMI cable into laptop
    • If using a MacBook, use attached adapter
    • If using a Windows laptop, remove adapter or use adapter depending on type of video ports on laptop
  • Use Volume dial on button panel to raise and lower speaker volume.  Volume level may also be adjusted via application
  • When done,
    • Unplug HDMI cable from laptop
    • Press ALL OFF on button panel.  Lights will flash on button panel – do not press any buttons during this time.  Audio will mute and then flat panels will turn off

    • Unplug VGA cable from laptop
    • Press ALL OFF on button panel.  Lights will flash on button panel – do not press any buttons during this time.  Audio will mute and then flat panels will turn off

Apple TV

  • To project to a single flat panel, press APPLE TV in either Left or Right row depending on needs
  • To project to both flat panels, press APPLE TV in both Left and Right rows
  • Connect your device to Apple TV via AirPlay
  • Use Volume dial on button panel to raise and lower speaker volume.  Volume level may also be adjusted via application and iPad (not MacBook)
  • When done,
    • Follow directions in links above for disconnecting from Apple TV
    • Press ALL OFF on button panel.  Lights will flash on the button panel – do not press any buttons during this time.  Audio will mute and then flat panels will turn off.

Mute

Press Audio Mute on button panel to mute audio on flat panel

Press Video Mute on button panel to mute video on flat panel

Koch 213 is equipped with two flat panel displays.  Two separate sources can be displayed in the room – one to each flat panel.
If you want to project two HDMI sources (e.g., MacBook, newer Windows laptop) or two VGA sources (e.g., older Windows laptops), please contact the ITS Help Desk (x1444, helpdesk@deerfield.edu) to arrange for a second cable to be setup in the room.
Dual source options:

  • 2 HDMI devices – use HDMI1 and HDMI2; choose which display shows what
  • 2 VGA devices – use VGA1 and VGA2; choose which display shows what
  • 1 HDMI and 1 VGA – use HDMI1 and VGA1; choose which display shows what
  • 1 HDMI and Apple TV – use HDMI1 and APPLE TV; choose which display shows what
  • 1 VGA and Apple TV – use VGA1 and APPLE TV; choose which display shows what

Mute

  • Press Audio Mute on the button panel to mute audio on both flat panels
  • Press Video Mute on the button panel to mute video on both flat panels

It is not possible to audio or video mute a single display.
