Spain #13: Spanish Cuisine

Luka ’25, recounts the days activities which mainly revolved around spending time with friends and eating good food!

Today, my roommates and I woke up early to go to school. In school, we learned about la gastronomia en España, which translates to Spanish cuisine. We studied this with a fun game, where you broke up into teams, and tried finding matches quicker than the other team. After studying more about imperatives, we played another game called ‘Mafia,’ where we all had fun and tried enhancing our Spanish skills.

After school, Walker, Gabe, y yo, walked back from school and ate lunch with our host parents. We had a variety of seafood, including squid, shrimp, and then topped it off with some pasta. At 4:00pm, we had Flamenco class. We learned the different rhythms for the footwork and clapping, which turned out to be a lot of fun. Afterwards, some of the group got ice cream. Our guide, Alicia, got a mandarin flavored scoop, which I had never seen before. Later, my group mate Izzy and I went to get burgers at a local burger joint.

After retiring to my home, I talked on the phone with my mom, and then went out again with Gabe, to go get some pizza. We ordered our food, and as we waited, we watched the Euro Cup game on the TV between Georgia and Portugal. Georgia would surprisingly end up winning 2-0, to secure their spot in the knockout stages! I wrapped up my day watching a bit of Game of Thrones, and then turned off my lights to get rest for the ensuing day.
