In the beginning of October, The Focal Point, Deerfield’s science magazine, announced our photography contest to the Deerfield community and it was a resounding success. Students sent in submissions documenting scientific phenomenon and from a large pool of applicants we have decided that Oliver Browne ’24 to be the winner!
Oliver’s photograph documents Ornithology, which is a branch of zoology concerning the study of birds and, in this case, the study of owls. This specific photograph is of a juvenile Northern Saw-Whet owl that flew into Oliver’s window last summer and attempted to recover from the hit. Enjoy!
