Deerfield varsity lacrosse teams win Wednesday games. The girls varsity lacrosse team traveled to Andover to earn a come-from-behind win over the Big Blue, 10-9. At home on Fair Family Field, the boys varsity lacrosse team, led Navy Prep for four quarters to earn a 12-7 victory.
At Andover, Deerfield girls varsity lacrosse displayed their grit and resilience and played with heart to battle back from a two-goal deficit to first tie the game and then, registered the go-ahead goal with 1:30 remaining in the game. A strong defensive stand by the Big Green earned them the ball in the final minute of play, the Doors were able to maintain possession through the final 60 seconds and earned their first road victory of the season. Yesterday’s victory improved the team’s season record to 2-1, averaging 11 goals per game.
The boys varsity lacrosse team was honored to run with Navy Prep in yesterday’s home contest. The Big Green pulled ahead early in the game, but Navy Prep closed the gap and created some good looks at the goal with their constant off ball motion and feeding ability to close the first half. The Big Green came out in the second half looking to push the pace and capitalize in the transition game. Seniors Juanny Ford and Bennett Stankovits were the engines the Big Green would need to bust the game open! Their play on both sides of the ball propelled the team to their third straight win, advancing their season record to 3-2.
Also on Wednesday, the girls JV lacrosse team earned their first away game win of the season with their 7-4 win over Andover. At home, the boys JV lacrosse team fell to a talented Cardigan Mountain team 7-10.
Up next, girls and boys varsity lacrosse will host rival Choate Rosemary Hall this Saturday, April 13th at 3:30pm. Both games will be available to watch on livestream, click here to watch.
