Three Girls Cross-Country Runners Earn Division I All-New England Honors

At the 2018 New England Prep School Track and Field Association Division I Cross-Country Championships this fall hosted by Avon Old Farms School on Saturday, November 10th, the Deerfield girls cross-country team concluded their fall season finishing 4th out of all competing Division I teams in New England. In addition, three girls varsity cross-country runners – Victoria Patterson ’20, Noelle Abeyta ’21 and Abby Fernald ’22 – earned All-New England honors for finishing in the top-20 at the season culminating event.

Junior Victoria Patterson paced the Big Green all season, capping off her undefeated 2018 season by capturing the Division I New England Championship individual title for the first time in her career. Victoria crossed the 5,000 meter course finish line tape with a time of 17:49, defeating the second place finisher by over a minute.

Fellow teammate Noelle Abeyta ’21, in her second season for the Big Green culminated her tenth grade fall campaign with a fifth place finish at the New England Championships, securing her All-New England honor. Noelle finished the race with a time of 19:38.

First-year student-athlete Abby Fernald ’22 was the third member of the Big Green team to earn All-New England honors this season. At the Championships in her rookie season, Abby finished in 11th place with a time of 20:02.
