Girls Hockey Begins 2018-19 Quest on New Ice

Before the Thanksgiving break, the girls varsity hockey team began their 2018-2019 season with pre-season camp on their new home ice.  After fall final exams were complete, the girls hit the ice for their three-day camp in the recently opened Class of 1993 Rink housed in the new Deerfield Athletics Complex. The team enjoyed two-a-day on ice sessions and capped off their preseason camp with a green vs. white scrimmage!

This year’s roster includes 16 returning players and seven new faces in addition to new first-year head coach, Brooke Fernandez. Returning players include last year’s team leading scorer, Mary Edmonds ’19 along with several veteran defensive pairs led by seniors Erin DeMarco, Deirdre Mullowney and Ali Fujiyoshi and goalies, Jordan Manning ’19 and Liv Mikesell ’20.

The puck will drop to open the Big Green’s season this Saturday, 12/1 when the team faces off against St. Mark’s on the road. Next Wednesday, 12/5 the team will host their first home game in Deerfield’s new rink against Loomis Chaffee at 3:00pm.

Go Big Green!
