On Sunday, Deerfield wrestler Angela Osei-Ampadu ’21 earned the silver medal in the 113 lb. division at the Phillips Andover Girls Wrestling Tournament and teammate Anne Duong ’22 placed 5th in the 169.3 division.
In total, 54 wrestlers from 29 schools competed at the tournament. Overall, the Big Green finished the tournament tied for 11th place out of all the competing schools.

On Saturday, the varsity wrestling team traveled to Salisbury School for a quad meet against Hotchkiss, Canterbury, and Salisbury. The team battled to a 1-1-1 result on the day however, the tie vs. Canterbury was awarded as win to Canterbury because the tie break was determined by the number of pins.
The Big Green won six of their matches over the Salisbury Knights for the victory, 36-24. At the 120 lb division, John Chung ’20 earned the forfeit victory and Cooper Pertchik ’22 did the same at the 126 lb division. In the 145 lb division, Caio Paiva Oliveira ’20 also won by forfeit.
Charlie Lewis ’21 earned the victory at the 152 lb weight class and Chris Thaggard ’20 won the 160 lb division in the head-to-head match-up against the Knights. Elliott Flagg ’20 rounded out the wins for the Big Green, defeating his Salisbury opponent to earn six points for the Big Green.
On the day, John Chung was undefeated to lead the Big Green in scoring. He won by forfeit vs. Canterbury and Salisbury then, went on to defeat his Hotchkiss opponent at the 120 lb division.
On Wednesday, the Big Green will travel south on I-91 for a head-to-head meet against Wilbraham & Monson.
