Robertson ’26 and Capella ’25 Represent Team USA at Squash British Junior Open

Deerfield is proud to welcome home Hart Robertson ’26 and Christian Capella ’25, who were selected to represent team USA at the British Junior Open last weekend. Along with the World Squash Federation’s World Junior Championships, this is the world’s most prestigious junior squash title, as it is an international draw that has been in place since 1926. For a single school to have two players competing in the same age division (capped at five) is very rare indeed, and the boys did not disappoint. Having both competed in the U.S. Junior Open in December, Christian and Hart spent time over their winter holiday training for the British, and competed for glory in the U17 draw featuring 96 competitors from around the globe!

Christian made his fourth appearance at the event this year, going 5 and 1 and defeating players from Canada, Saudi Arabia, two opponents from England, and fellow American Oliver Velasco of Brunswick School, only losing to the eventual 5th place holder from France.

Hart also had an outstanding tournament playing in his third British Junior Open, going 4 and 2 including wins over two higher seeded opponents, including Will Newman (also of Brunswick School) and Dylan Roberts of England, and landing with 12th place overall finish.

Deerfield is excited to celebrate these achievements, so appreciate their roles within our squash program, and look forward to all the ways they will continue to contribute to our school community at Deerfield.

Go Big Green!
