Boys varsity hockey opened their second consecutive week of three-games with a home victory over Kimball Union Academy, 4-1. Nine players contributed to the game score sheet to help the Big Green earn ninth win of the season.
Shasha Shogren ‘19 opened the scoring for the Big Green approaching the six minute mark in the first period. Less than five minutes later Will Holland ’21 doubled the lead, netting a short-handed goal on assists from Jarod Harrington ’20 and Keith Davenport ’20.
In the opening minutes of the third period, Mikey Holland ’19 added a third goal for the Big Green on a beautiful tick-tack play from down low. Assists to Tomas Zourikian ’19 and Noah de la Durantaye ‘19. KUA scored a goal of their own in the second period to cut the lead to two.
Mikey Holland sealed the victory scoring an empty netter at the end of the game with assists going to Zach Milton ’19 and Sean McAvoy.
In goal, Thomas Gale ’19 made 19 saves.
This was the second meeting between the two team’s this season with the Big Green holding the advantage, 2-0. The win improves the team’s season record to 9-4-0.
The Big Green have two more games that remain on their schedule this week; on Friday night they will host Pomfret at 6:30pm and on Saturday the Big Green will face-off against the rival Wild Boars at 7:00pm. Tune in to watch both games on our livestream.
