Girls Varsity Hockey – Watkins Tournament at Cushing Academy
The girls varsity hockey team will travel to Ashburnham, MA for the Edward G. Watkins Girls Invitational Hockey Tournament hosted by Cushing Academy. The Big Green will compete in the eight-team tournament and play three round robin games between today and Friday before the championship games on Saturday, 12/15. Round robin action begins this evening, 12/14 when the Big Green face off against Worcester Academy at 6:10pm. The Big Green will return to the ice tomorrow at 11:40am vs. Northwood School and will play again later at 7:00pm vs. New Hampton School. Then, the team will wait to find out who they will face in the championship cross-over game. The team enters this weekend with an early season record of 1-3-1.
Boys Varsity Hockey – Flood-Marr Holiday Tournament
The boys varsity hockey team will return to the 54th Annual Flood-Marr Holiday Tournament. The Big Green will look to reclaim this year’s tournament title after winning the tournament two years ago in 2016. The team enters the tournament with a perfect record of 4-0, coming off a big home ice win vs. Avon, 4-1. The Big Green will open tournament play tomorrow (12/14) vs. Nobles at 9:00am. They will return to the ice later tomorrow night at 7:00pm to face Salisbury. Finally, the Big Green will close-out round-robin play on Friday, 12/15 vs. Kimball Union at 3:00pm. Championship games will begin on Saturday, 12/16. Stay tuned!
Girls Varsity Basketball – Deerfield Holiday Tournament
The girls varsity basketball team will host the 2nd Annual Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament from December 13-14. This year’s eight participating schools include Berkshire, Brewster, Choate, Deerfield, Gould, Pomfret, St. Paul’s and Vermont Academy. The Big Green opens tournament play this afternoon vs. Vermont Academy at 4:00pm in the East Gym. The team’s next tournament game and opponent will be determined by today’s opening game results. Click here for the tournament bracket. The Big Green head into tournament play after earning their first win of the season on Saturday, 12/8 on the road against at talented St. Paul’s team.
Boys Varsity Basketball – Class A Winter Classic Tournament
The boys varsity basketball team enters this weekend’s Class A Winter Classic Basketball Tournament on a three game winning streak! The streak began on Saturday, 12/8 when the Big Green defeated Westminster and earned another win the following day at the Pioneer Valley Tip Off vs. Commonwealth Academy. The squad’s third victory this season came yesterday vs. Pomfret. At the tournament, the team will play all of their games at St. Sebastian’s School and open up their tournament play vs. Thayer Academy tomorrow (12/14) at 4:00pm. The Big Green will play two games on Saturday, 12/15, first at 10:00am they will play St. Sebastian’s and then at 1:30pm they will play Milton Academy.
