On Saturday at Andover, Deerfield girls varsity water polo took the lead in the first quarter of play and extended their lead through all four quarters to secure the victory.
In the opening frame, the Big Green outscored the Big Blue, 6-2 and further extended their lead in the second quarter to close out the first half with a 10-3 advantage. The Big Green continued to add to their lead in the second half by adding another seven goals to the score sheet. At the games’ final whistle, the Doors were victorious, 17-7.
Five different Deerfield teammates contributed to the score line; leading the way for the Big Green was Maddie Clough ’20 with ten goals. Sophie Opler ’19, Nikki Pelletier ’20 and Morgan Clough ’20 each added two goals to the scoresheet and Ruby Chase ’21 added of a goal of her own.
Amanda Brooks ’19 and Darcy de Real ’21 shared time in the goal, anchoring the Big Green defense.
The Big Green continue their road series of games when they return to action this Wednesday, April 24 against rival Choate Rosemary Hall at 3:30pm.
