Yesterday, the girls water polo team kicked-off the second half of their 2018 season by defeating visiting rival Choate Rosemary Hall by a score of 11-6. With the win, the team improves their season record to 5-3 with six regular season games that remain on their schedule.
The Big Green won the first three quarters of the contest to edge the Wild Boards, 11-6. In the first quarter, Deerfield notched four goals while only conceding a lone goal to the visitors and in the second quarter, the Doors blanked Choate while scoring three goals of their own to grow the lead to 7-1. Deerfield won the third frame, 3-1 to extend their lead, 10-2. In the final quarter of play, the Wild Boars netted four goals to Deerfield’s one.
Maddie Clough ‘20 led the Big Green offense notching five goals on the day. Niki Pelletier ‘20 scored a hat-trick and senior captains Bailey Smith ’18 (2) and Shenika Shi ‘18 (1) combined for a hat-trick to complete the scoring for the Big Green.
Sydney Bluestein ’21 and Doris Zhang ’18 shared responsibilities in net for the Big Green, the pair combined for five saves against the Wild Boars.
