Girls varsity squash opened their 2021-22 season with a home win over visiting Hotchkiss, 4-3.
Both teams had some jitters and a sense of excitement after 20(ish) months away from interscholastic competition but the players settled into their games quickly and provided a great afternoon of squash for the crowd that assembled in the Dewey courts.
The Big Green played strong squash up/down the ladder and the match was all square at 3-3 when Maeve hopped on the court to play the #1 match. Maeve played strong, steady squash in the face of pressure and ultimately delivered a 3-1 victory to clinch the victory for Deerfield!
Congratulations to Devon and Willow for their strong leadership and steady wins at #3/#4, to Anna on a very strong debut on the varsity ladder at #2, to Alex for a clutch win, to Daly and Emma for a strong start and to Kate for a fantastic debut as a ninth grader!
