At the conclusion of the spring 2019 season, the Western New England Preparatory School Women’s Lacrosse Association announced their 2019 All-Star team.
Deerfield’s girls varsity lacrosse senior co-captains Bailey Cheetham and Margaret Williams were honored as 2019 WNEPSWLA All-Stars for their contributions and impact on the lacrosse field this spring.
Bailey, a four-year two sport varsity student-athlete for the Big Green in both soccer and lacrosse. Played in the challenging and demanding midfield position on the lacrosse field. In her final season in Green and White, Bailey played a key role for the team in her contributions from end line to end line, in addition to her outstanding team leadership on and off the field. Bailey was the recipient of the 2019 Ramsay Cup, given annually to the boy or girl varsity midfielder who excels in all facets of that most difficult position. In the fall 2019, Bailey will begin her collegiate career at John’s Hopkins University and continue to pursue her lacrosse career for the Blue Jays. Congratulations, Bailey!
Margaret, a multi-sport varsity student-athlete for the Big Green, lettering in soccer, hockey and lacrosse during her four-years at Deerfield. In her senior season, Margaret selflessly embraced the challenge of a new position and successfully played several different positional roles for the Big Green, illustrating both her versatility and impact as a player and her commitment and dedication to her team. Margaret was awarded the 2019 Coaches’ Award, which is given annually to a member of the team who displays character and discipline both on and off the field and accepts any challenge put before her. Next year, Margaret will continue to pursue her lacrosse career as a student-athlete at Army. Good luck, Margaret!
In spring 2019, the girls varsity lacrosse team posted a 12-2 team record, equally their spring 2018 record. The team scored in the double digits in all but two games and held their opponents to single digit goals in 11 games this spring.
In their four years on the team, Bailey, Margaret and their senior class amassed a 42-14-0 career record. Congratulations class of 2019 and the girls lacrosse team on your success in 2019!
