On Thursday, April 28, the Deerfield girls 4×100 Meter Relay team made history by winning the High School Girls’ Prep School 4×100 Meter Relay at the 2022 Penn Relays with a time of 51.43.
The team included Jasmine Decossard ’22, Simi Lawal ’23, Campbell Fealey ’24, Kaelin Creagh ’24, and alternate Ismay Anderson ’22.
In the race, the team ran from the inside lane. Jasmine had a fast start out of the blocks, with a clean hand-off to Simi who continued to make up ground from the inside lane. After the second handoff, Campbell made her way into second place before passing the baton to Kaelin who pulled ahead for the Big Green victory.
Coach Gray and Ismay greeted the team at the finish line to celebrate the team win!
The Big Green were followed at the finish line by second place finisher Sacred Heart (52.34) and third place Hopkins School (53.49).
The historic Penn Relays debuted in 1895 and have grown into an international relay event. Now, over 15,000 male and female athletes compete in the high school, college, Olympic development and professional races. Franklin Field is home to the event and over 110,000 fans travel to observe the relays. Learn more about The Relays here.
