In his final season at Bowdoin, senior men’s tennis tri-captain Gil Roddy ’14 advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals for the fourth time in his career. Bowdoin qualified for the NCAA DIII Men’s Tennis Championship after capturing the 2018 New England Small College Athletic Conference championship.
Today, Bowdoin defeated Yeshiva (5-0) in the second round match-up of the NCAA DIII Men’s Tennis Championship. Roddy helped to earn two points for his team today. First, he and doubles partner Larry Zhao defeated their opponent 8-1 at #3 and later he earned the fourth point of the day at #5 by blanking his opponent (6-0, 6-0). The Polars Bears (20-1) will face the winner of RPI vs. Stevens tomorrow at noon in the NCAA Regional Finals. If they win tomorrow’s match up it will be Roddy and his team’s third consecutive national quarterfinal appearance.
Earlier this season, Roddy and the Polar Bears faced off against former Big Green teammates, Scott Danforth ’17 (Trinity) and Carl Grant ’17 (Tufts), in NESCAC match ups.
Good luck Gil!
