The football team traveled to Suffield Academy for the team’s first road game of the season and emerged victorious in a come-from-behind overtime victory, 28-27.
Trailing 21-6 in the middle of the 3rd quarter, Deerfield scored two back-t0-back touchdowns and a two-point conversion to tie the game 21-21 with just under 10 minutes left in the game. The score would remain tied 21-21 at the end of regulation, prompting over time play.
After a scoreless first overtime, Deerfield scored the go-ahead touchdown on the first play of the second OT on a 30 yard pass from quarterback Cole Geer ‘25 to wide receiver Tristan Ward ‘24. Suffield scored on their 2nd possession as well, but the Deerfield defense stopped the Suffield two-point conversion and held on for the 28-27 win.
Tristan Ward led the Big Green offense, catching 12 balls for 276 yards and two touchdowns and at quarterback, Cole Geer threw for over 400 yards.
Defensive back Ty Curran ‘24 had two interceptions and defensive end Chigozie Oge-Evans ‘23 had two sacks for the Big Green defense.
