Five Different Scorers Lead Big Green over Pomfret

The Big Green hosted Pomfret on Saturday afternoon and prevailed over the Griffins, 6-1 with five different players registering goals for the Doors in the victory.

The Big Green quickly answered, earning a couple of consecutive corners which resulted in Avery Izzo ’24 leveling the score on a header off of a Jasmine Irizarry’s ’23 corner kick to the back post.

Shortly thereafter, Anna Dyjach ’24 registered her first goal of the season and first career goal for the Big Green when she opportunistically buried a rebound from a powerful shot from Alex Hermsdorf ’25. After the go-ahead-goal the Big Green did not look back. Anna continued her scoring touch and finished another rebound off a scrum that ensued after another Big Green corner kick from Jasmine.

As the first half wore on, Eve Andon ’23 provide a spark off the bench for the Big Green and registered an unassisted goal on a great shot from distance.

Prior to halftime Anna slotted a ball to Kaelin Creagh ’24 which she shot from distance and resulted in the fifth goal for the Big Green. At the half, the Big Green held the 5-1 lead.

To start the second half, Abigail Ng ’25 anchored the Big Green defensively from the goal and helped control the team’s possession with great support and distribution.

In the second half, the Big Green controlled the possession of the game and neutralized any of Pomfret’s attacking threats with patient and collective defending. The Doors continued to press for more opportunities and the Pomfret defense and goalkeeper came up with some big saves and the Big Green had several shots nearly miss the goal.

Mid-way through the second half, Eleanor DuPont ’26 finished a rebound from a crossed ball in the box for the team’s sixth goal on the day.

The backline which included Sam Olander ’23, Avery Izzo, Mia Goetzke ’24, Keira Austen ’26 and Ava Carvel ’25 contributed to the team’s second shut out in the second half.
