Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!
Theatre: Sophia Wolbach ’23
Sophia is a dedicated member of the Theater Tech Crew. She has become a leader among her peers on the crew, helping them to learn the use of shop tools and leading projects in all facets of Technical Theater. She is a patient and upbeat leader that exemplifies the best qualities of a Deerfield student and rightly deserves to be a “Door of the Week”.
Girls Varsity Water Polo: Mark Cai ’22, Elle Stearns ’23, Tyler Ettelson ’23, Levi Tipton ’24, and Leon Kong ’25
The polo team congratulates the five swim instructors who have so quickly gained their students’ trust. Thanks to the encouragement and enthusiasm of Mark Cai ’22, Elle Stearns ’23, Tyler Ettelson ’23, Levi Tipton ’24, and Leon Kong ’25, the new swimmers head confidently into deeper water each day.
Varsity Baseball: Jake Rohan ’24
Varsity baseball is excited to select Jake Rohan as our DOTW. Jake is a talented and promising young player, who is locked in at practice every day. His attention to detail does not go unnoticed by his teammates and coaches. Jake really competed in Florida and opened a lot of eyes with some clutch hits. I look forward to his continued growth as a student, person, teammate, and player this year. Keep up the outstanding work Jake!
Ultimate: Austen Thomas ’24 and Allyson Xu ’24
The Ultimate “Doors of the Week” are Austen Thomas and Allyson Xu, both from the class of 2024. Both Allyson and Austen came to the team a few days after the season had started, and both athletes have jumped right in with energy, focus, and an openness to feedback that make them vital contributors to our team. Allyson exhibits strong awareness of the game, and Austen is awesome at getting open and receiving passes. These athletes model Ultimate’s “Spirit of the Game,” both through daily sharpening of their skills and by bringing their best selves to practice each day. We’re lucky to have them on our team!
Girls Varsity Lacrosse: Ainsley Hatch ’22
Ainsley Hatch was named the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Door of the week. After identifying as an attacker for most of her career, Ainsley has shifted into a defensive role this season with a tremendous attitude and team-first approach. She has excelled in her new position and been a welcome addition to our defensive unit.
Boys JV Lacrosse: Henry Griffin ’24
Henry Griffin paced the DA JV lax efforts in their first contest of the season that yielded a 17-0 victory of the Brunswick school. Henry found the back of the goal 5 times was effective in the transition game and demonstrated great effort on ground balls. Come out to see more from this very talented big green squad!
Boys Track & Field: Tino Munochiveyi ’22
Our first DOTW for the 2022 season is Tino Munochiveyi. To kick off his senior season, Tino ran the fastest 400 Meter leg in the team’s carnival of 4×400 Relays on Friday afternoon. By running a 53 second interval at this early stage of the season, he set himself up for a promising season and secured a spot on the 4×400 Meter team that will compete in the Penn Relays at the end of April. Great work, Tino!
