Baseball Earns First League Win

On Monday, in a rescheduled game due to Saturday’s inclement weather, Deerfield got their first league win of the year against Cushing Academy by a score of 16-2.

Five different Deerfield players got two RBI a piece. Right fielder, Sam Chutkow ’22 was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with two doubles. Left fielder and senior co-captain Tynan Creagh hit the first triple of the season and pinch hitter Henry Foster ’22 got his first varsity hit for the Big Green.

Starting pitcher Ryan McHugh ‘23 had another strong start allowing only 2 hits, 0 ER and struck out 7 batters.  Pitchers Jack Chorske ’22 and Pete Shea ‘23 each pitched one inning in relief and both struck out 2 batters.

With the win, the Big Green improves their early season record to 1-2-0, early in the season. The team returns to action on Wednesday, April 13 at Taft. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm.
