Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!
Boys Cross-Country: Nate Ugwonali and Judah Zhuwao
Doors of the Week for boys XC are Nate Ugwonali and Judah Zhuwao, who have done a great job of steadily chipping away at their training to arrive at new levels of fitness. They are exemplary members of the squad as their consistent efforts have yielded real progress. What more could we ask for?
JV Field Hockey: Ellora Devitre
JV FH would like to nominate Ellora Devitre as our DOTW, this week. Ellora has been an incredibly consistent, reliable, and positive member of the team this year. She has yet to miss a practice and shows up to the field each day with a can-do attitude, ready to work hard. She is quick to enact feedback and loves helping her teammates. She has developed quite the field sense over her past three years on the team; we can always count on her to be in the right place at the right time. She has a joyful spirit, a bottomless enthusiasm, and an infectious laugh. Ellora plays her heart out and does it with a smile on her face. She’s a star that shines on and off the field and we’re so lucky to have her light brighten our team!
Girls Cross-Country: Claire Xia and Tess Ho
Girls XC nominates Claire Xia and Tess Ho for being so spirited and showing out every day at practice. They not only have been putting in the miles every day, but also building up team culture.
Thirds Volleyball: Ariana Clarke ’27
The Door of the Week for Girls Thirds Volleyball is Ariana Clarke ’27. As a new sophomore, Ariana has been a wonderful addition to the thirds volleyball team this year. Traditionally, Ariana has played front row for the team, she is a fantastic hitter and has great instincts at the net, getting some amazing blocks. In our nail-biter game against Loomis this weekend we asked Ariana to also play back row. Her fantastic serving was a crucial part of the sets that we won. We could not have done it without her. She brings focus and poise to our otherwise chaotic practices and is always ready to work. We are so happy to have Ariana on the team this season.
Girls Thirds Soccer: Emmanuel Atiegha ’27
This week’s DOTW for Girls Thirds Soccer is Emmanuel Atiegha ’27! Emmanuel shows up to practice every day ready to help out in any way he can. He demonstrates care for his contribution as the manager through his enthusiasm and diligence. Emmanuel encourages the team to not give up on each other and instead push one another to be better. He is very thoughtful and passionate in his pre-game motivational speech that empowers the team to leave it all out on the field. Emmanuel’s contagious smile is appreciated on the team, and we look forward to the rest of the season with him as our manager.
Girls JV Volleyball: Maisy Johnson ’26
Junior captain Maisy Johnson ’26 has been an exemplary leader for the Girls JV Volleyball team this season, consistently displaying both skill and heart on the court. Her performance in last week’s match against Exeter was no exception. Despite the team being short-handed and facing a talented, well-coached opponent, Maisy remained a steady force in the back row, making critical digs that kept Deerfield in key rallies, including a pivotal moment in the second set that sparked a comeback. Maisy’s leadership extends beyond her play. Her constant positive energy and enthusiastic support lifted her teammates, especially when the match was toughest. She rallies the team with her encouraging words and actions, proving that leadership is just as much about attitude as it is about skill. For her outstanding contributions both on and off the court, Maisy Johnson is our well-deserved Door of the Week.
Boys Jr. B Soccer: Marco Feng
The Quad Squad Door of the Week is Marco Feng! Although new to soccer, Marco’s hard work and determination have made positive impacts on the team. He gives 100% effort in every game and works tirelessly at practice to improve his skills. His growth throughout the season has been impressive, and his positive attitude is contagious. Marco’s dedication and enthusiasm make him a valuable member of the squad and an easy choice for our DOTW this week.
Boys Jr. A Soccer: Jerry Du ’27
A returner to our team only because of a glut of keepers at the higher level, Jerry has been a leader from the start. His good humor is matched only by his commitment to excellence, and his sophomore campaign in net has been ever more sterling than his rookie year. Every goal allowed this season resulted from defensive breakdowns against which no keeper would have stood a chance. In Wednesday’s contest against Williston, Jerry made two stunning saves—the second on a PK. Even more impressive was the leadership he offered with his voice, directing the defense into optimal positioning. We’re very lucky to have Jerry with us and look forward to him closing out the season strong!
Girls Varsity Soccer: Cori Scagel ‘25
The girls varsity soccer team recognizes Cori Scagel ’25 as this week’s Door of the Week. Cori epitomizes the saying, “calm, cool and collected.” Cori’s technical ability combined with her vision of the field and composure have had a tremendous impact on the Big Green this season. In the game of soccer and in the center midfield position, where both involve constant transitions in play, Cori remains calm and purposeful in helping the Big Green maintain possession and also stay organized defensively. Every day, Cori brings a high level of work rate and positive energy that uplifts her teammates and she is always keeping the goalkeepers on their toes with her rocket of a shot! Finally, a special shout out to Cori on scoring her first Big Green career goal on Saturday vs. Exeter; burying a pass at the back post into the back of the net that ultimately proved to be the game winning goal! Many thanks to Cori for all that she has given to the Big Green girls varsity soccer program over her career! Keep it going, Cori!
Varsity Field Hockey: Haley Abraham ‘25 and Loulla Rousou ‘25
This week’s DOTW for VFH are Haley Abraham ‘25 and Loulla Rousou ‘25, two of our senior captains. These two players have been instrumental in our strong performances this past week as strong anchors in the defensive end of our field and vocal, respectful leaders of the team. We are looking forward to their performances in the second half of our season and know they will continue to lead with humility, intensity and positive energy.
Girls JV Soccer: Emma Pless ‘27
Emma practices and plays each day with hustle and heart. Always ready to support a teammate and never critical of others, her hard work is evident every time she’s on the field!
Varsity Volleyball: Harmoni Dobbins ’26
DOTW this week for varsity volleyball goes to Harmoni Dobbins ’26. Harmoni has been a staple on the court for 3 years and is a big part of DA’s offense and defense. Harmoni is our leading blocker and allows the defenders behind her to set up effectively. On offense, Harmoni has one of the highest hitting percentages on the team and has taken huge strides in the aggressiveness and placement of her hits. Despite her accomplishments, Harmoni is incredibly humble about her achievements both on and off the court. Congratulations Harmoni.
Varsity Football: Hawk Okpokwasili ’25
The DOTW for the Varsity Football Team is Hawk Okpokwasili. Hawk was all over the field in a challenging game at Exeter Academy. He let the team in both total tackles and solo tackles from his linebacker spot. Hawk is leading the way in his senior year starting for the first time and making the most of his opportunities. His physicality, heart and nose for the ball make him a force for the Big Green defense. Keep an eye out for Hawk this weekend against Andover!
