Deerfield tennis teams were victorious on the courts on Wednesday – extending their winning streaks across the board.
The boys varsity team traveled to Hotchkiss to defeat the Bearcats 6-1 and extend their winning streak to 6 games. The team’s winning ways date back to their match at NMH on April 27th where they were victorious over the Hoggers, 4-0. In between, the team has defeated Westminster (7-0), Groton (6-0), Choate (5-2) and Williston (7-0). The boys will look to extend their streak to 7 games this Saturday as they welcome the Big Red of Exeter at 3pm. The team enters Saturday’s match with an overall record of 6-3-0.
The girls varsity team hosted Longmeadow yesterday for a battle between two western Massachusetts teams. The Big Green earned the decisive 5-2 victory and improved their season record to 6-3-0 while remaining unbeaten for the last 3 consecutive matches. The team’s winning ways started against Loomis (8-1) on May 6th and continued as they defeated the NMH Hoggers on the road on May 8th (9-0). The girls host home matches vs. Choate this Saturday at 12pm and will look to lengthen their win streak!
Both the boys and girls JV tennis teams are not to be undone by their varsity comrades as they too are enjoying unbeaten streaks. The boys JV team earned a home win yesterday vs. Loomis (6-1) to extend their unbeaten streak to 4 games, improving their overall season record to 6-2-0. The girls JV squad enjoyed a day of rest yesterday after starting the month of May on a hot streak by defeating NMH (9-1) away defeating Loomis (6-1) at home. With these two wins, the team improved their season record to 5-2-0. Both JV teams will be playing at home this Saturday, the girls will play Choate at 12pm and the boys will host Exeter at 3pm.
