Today, Deerfield fall teams enter their tenth practice in preparation for the upcoming fall 2023 season. Team rosters are taking shape with veteran players welcoming new team members and together uniting through their hard work and love for the game. With a team for everyone; some students are discovering a sport for the first time and learning the rules of the game, while others are being challenged to strive for further growth in their respective sport. Regardless of experience, the Deerfield community is united by the shared afternoon co-curricular experience.
With preparation ongoing, Deerfield teams have their eyes set on the beginning of each of their seasons. This weekend several teams have the opportunity to compete against outside competition for the first time this fall in a scrimmage game(s).
This Saturday, the varsity football team will travel to Watertown, CT for a scrimmage against Taft.
The girls varsity soccer and varsity field hockey teams will each host their annual playdate round-robin of short games against visiting teams including: Cushing, Kimball Union, NMH, Williston, Berkshire and Vermont Academy.
Continuing on the soccer pitch, the boys varsity soccer team will travel to Westminster and Suffield this Saturday and Sunday for their scrimmages.
Finally on Saturday, the boys JV soccer team will host a round robin with JV teams from Loomis and Westminster at Deerfield.
These scrimmages will offer the opportunity for final preparation and teaching from coaches in advance of regular season schedules starting next week on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
