In the second edition of the Alumni/nae Spotlight we highlight Emma Reavis ’19 who graduated from Brandeis University this spring after a stellar basketball career. Originally from Oklahoma, Emma came to Deerfield and played both soccer and basketball, making an impact on both teams. In basketball, Emma was a three-time NEPSAC All-Star and captained Deerfield Basketball during her senior year.
In the Spring of 2019, she traveled to Spain on a Deerfield trip and said of her journey through the city of Avila, “Through each step of our hike and tour of the city, the story of Saint Teresa resonated with us all as we took notice of her unwavering humility and desire to always better herself and those around her – all attributes that can be practiced and taken back to our own lives no matter our religious backgrounds.”
One could say Emma embraced the same attitude. She went on to play DIII basketball for Brandeis and was one of the Judges’ great all-around players over her four years earning her the Athletic Director’s Award and All-UAA Honorable Mention in 2023. In addition, Emma was a member of the Brandeis Student-Athlete Leadership Committee as she again captained her team, this time at the collegiate level for Brandeis, in her senior season.
