On Saturday, the boys varsity water polo team outscored visiting Hopkins School in three out of the four quarters to amass 17 goals on the day and defeat the visiting Mountain Goats.
The Big Green scored five goals in both the first and second quarters of the game to secure an early, 10-4 lead over the Mountain Goats at halftime. Hopkins rallied in the third quarter to tie the Big Green 4-4 and bring the score to 14-8. In the final frame, the Big Green scored another three goals to further their lead. At the final whistle the score was 17-9 for the Doors.
Chris Lee ’19 led the way for the Big Green registering a total of nine goals against the Mountain Goats. Henry Lowe ’19 and Votja Kupka ’20 each notched three goals and Michael Makridis ’19 scored two goals for the Big Green.
In goal, Graham O’Brien ’19 made 22 saves and Ben Chen ’21 stepped up to make three saves in the game.
With Saturday’s win, the boys varsity water polo team improved their season record to 6-2. The squad will look to extend their two-game winning streak to three games this afternoon on the road at Westminster School. Today’s game tips off at 3:30pm.
