Preview: St. Paul’s Day 2018!

Tomorrow, October 6th, eleven Deerfield teams will welcome the Big Red of St. Paul’s to the Pioneer Valley.  This marks the second Deerfield vs. St. Paul’s day and will be the first time the Big Green will host the event. In addition to these 11 games, three more Deerfield teams will be playing at home on the day. Games will begin at 3:00pm with the boys Jr. A and Jr. B soccer teams kicking off the action vs. Wilbraham & Monson and Westminster, respectively. The day will conclude with the girls varsity and JV cross-country race starting at 5:00pm.

If you can’t make it to Albany Road for all of tomorrow’s action, you can tune in to Tomorrow’s line-up of games includes four livestreamed games.

Boys Jr. A Soccer vs. Wilbraham & Monson @ 3:00pm

On Saturday, the boys Jr. B squad will look to improve their 2-4-0 season record. The team is coming off a tough 1-0 loss on Wednesday to NMH. So far this season, the team has tallied 16 goals while conceding 14. The Big Green will look to add another win to their record on Saturday against Wilbraham & Monson.

Boys Jr. B Soccer vs. Westminster @ 3:00pm

The boys Jr. B soccer team is early in their season and are gaining lots of game experience this week as Saturday’s contest vs. Westminster will be their third game this week. Earlier this week the team tied Avon on the road 1-1 and will host PVPA tonight in preparation for tomorrow’s kick-off. Currently, the team’s record is 1-0-2.  The young team will look to remain undefeated in their season through this week’s games.

Varsity Football vs. Worcester @ 3:30pm (Livestream)

Varsity football will look to continue their early success on Saturday vs. Worcester. Last Saturday, in their first road test of 2018, the team defeat Hotchkiss 13-7, improving their overall record to 2-1. The Worcester squad enters Saturday’s contest with a record of 1-2. Suffield is the common opponent between the two teams, last Saturday the Rams lost to Suffield, 6-28, on the road. The week previous, the Big Green fell to the Tigers 10-14 at home. Deerfield will look extend their winning streak on Saturday.

Boys JV Soccer vs. St. Paul’s @ 3:30pm

Coming off a big 5-1 win over visiting Berkshire on Wednesday, the Big Green squad will look to extend their winning streak to two games against the Big Red. Both teams enter Saturday’s contest with almost identical records this season – the Big Green are 2-1-1 and with one extra game played, the Big Red are 2-1-2. The Big Green will look to continue their stingy defense and keep the Big Red offense at bay.

Girls JV Soccer vs. St. Paul’s @ 3:30pm

On Saturday, the girls JV squad will look to continue their winning ways and improve their near perfect 3-1-0 record this season. The team is coming off two big offensive performances, defeating Pomfret 9-0 and Williston 6-0 in the past week. DA will face a strong St. Paul’s squad that remains undefeated this season, 3-0-2. The Big Green will look to continue their offensive power on Saturday and snap the Big Red’s unbeaten streak.

JV Volleyball vs. St. Paul’s @ 3:30pm

The JV volleyball squad enters Saturday’s contest with confidence after earning a come-from-behind 2-1 win on Wednesday vs. visiting Williston. To date this season, the team  is 2-1-0. The Big Red will enter the Pioneer Valley on Saturday with a perfect 4-0 record this season. This young squad has been improving with each practice and game; they will be ready to continue raising their level of play on Saturday!

JV Field Hockey vs. St. Paul’s @ 3:30pm

JV field hockey will look to carry their momentum from Wednesday’s high-scoring 6-0 win over NMH into Saturday’s contest vs. the Big Red. The Big Red will enter Saturday’s game with a 3-2-1 record this season. Saturday’s game will complete Deerfield’s two game homestand as they travel to NMH on Wednesday for a rematch of this week’s earlier game.

Boys Varsity Water Polo vs. Hopkins @ 3:45pm (Livestream)

The boys varsity water polo squad returns home on Saturday to face-off against Hopkins School. The team will look to carry their offensive power from Wednesday’s away win at Choate (12-6) into Saturday’s contest. The Hopkins squad also enters Saturday’s contest coming off a 11-9 win on Wednesday against Suffield.

Varsity Field Hockey vs. St. Paul’s @ 4:15pm (Livestream)

Varsity field hockey will enter Saturday’s contest vs. the Big Red with a perfect 6-0 record. The Big Green offense has been on fire and their defense has been nearly flawless this season. On Saturday, this year’s squad will look to avenge last year’s loss to the Big Red.

Boys Varsity Soccer vs. St. Paul’s @ 4:15pm

On Saturday, the Big Green boys varsity soccer team will look to rebound against the Big Red after Wednesday’s loss to Berkshire. Coming off a great week of practice, the Big Green are ready to go!

Girls Varsity Soccer vs. St. Paul’s @ 4:15pm

Girls varsity soccer is eager for Saturday’s game against St. Paul’s. Coming off a 1-0 win against Williston on Wednesday, the girls are poised and ready to battle St. Paul’s. The game will conclude the team’s three game homestand.

Varsity Volleyball vs. St. Paul’s @ 4:15pm (Livestream)

Varsity volleyball has enjoyed success early in their 2018 season. Coming into Saturday’s match with an overall record of 6-1, Deerfield will face a strong St. Paul’s team that currently holds a 5-0 record. With their inspired play, the Big Green will look to snap the Big Red’s undefeated season!

Boys Varsity & JV Cross Country vs. St. Paul’s @ 4:30pm

On Saturday, the boys cross-country team enters the head-to-head portion of their season. The team will rely on their preparation and experience gained at the Brush, Canterbury and Westminster Invitationals. The team finished in 6th spot at the Canterbury Invitational and the varsity team earned 2nd at the Westminster Invitational while the JV squad captured the title on the challenging course.

Girls Varsity & JV Cross Country vs. St. Paul’s @ 5:00pm

The defending New England Champion girls varsity cross country program is off to a great start in 2018! So far, the team has captured back-to-back titles at the Canterbury and Westminster Invitationals. Saturday will mark their first head-to-head race of the season!
