Four Deerfield boys tennis players battled back from first-set deficits on Wednesday, while Matthew Wuyan and Arthur Yao provided straight-set singles wins as the team defeated Loomis 7-0. Deerfield is now 2-2 on the season, while Loomis is 3-3.
Alfi Auersperg, Gideon Yektai, Deepak Pathapati, and Cosmo Hunt all dropped their first sets, but rebounded to lose only seven games combined in their second sets. Due to the late start, all matches played super tie breakers in lieu of third sets, all four of which went to Deerfield. The clinching fourth point came from Auersperg at the top spot.
After Auersperg and Wuyan won at first doubles and Yektai and Hunt lost, all eyes once again turned to Pathapati and Adrian Yao, who closed out their match 8-5.
Deerfield welcomes Andover to town in a Family Weekend matchup this Saturday at 2 pm. As always, updates can be found on Twitter, @deerfieldtennis.
