Boys Cross-Country Races Past St. Paul’s

After a picture-perfect leaf-peeping journey to Concord, NH, the Deerfield harriers stepped off the bus and hurled themselves into a race against the Pelicans of St. Paul’s School. Both varsity and junior varsity squads won their races with some effective pack racing. The top seven varsity runners earned the 15-45 victory; the team’s first head-to-head victory of the season.

Standout performances from Isaac Bakare ’24 and Martin Liu ’26 rounded out the varsity seven, and many Deerfield runners from the JV ranks completed their first ever 5k competition.

Alongside the positive results, the team enjoyed the opportunity to scout the course for this year’s NEPSAC championship race, which will be held at St. Paul’s on the second weekend of November.

This week, the Doors will host both the Pelicans from Loomis Chaffee and the Boars from Choate for a thrilling contest on Parents Weekend in the Pioneer Valley. The boys varsity and JV race is set to start at 2:45pm.
