Football Knocks Off Salisbury in Final Minute to Secure Back-to-Back Victories

In the final minute of the game, Deerfield scored their sixth touchdown of the game to secure the victory over visiting Salisbury School to win their second game in a row by a score of 34-27.

Cole Geer’s ’25 fifth touchdown pass of the game came with 25 seconds left to wide receiver Tristan Ward ’24 to break a 27-27 tie and give Deerfield the lead for good.

On the day, Ward caught three touchdown passes, wide receiver Ty Curran ‘24 had a touchdown, and tight end Willem Thurber ’25 caught his first career touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter.

On defense, strong safety Owen Haight ’24 had an interception in the second quarter and Deerfield was able to hold Salisbury scoreless in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Defensive end Chigozie Oge-Evans ’23 continued his strong play with two sacks on the afternoon.

With Saturday’s win, the Big Green have earned back-to-back victories and improve their season record to 2-2.

This Saturday, the Big Green will host Loomis Chaffee for a 2:30pm kick-off on Jim Smith field.
