Deerfield’s Varsity girls were back on the tennis courts on Wednesday for a late afternoon match with St. Paul’s School visiting. The doubles matches were tough battles. Deerfield ultimately won all three contests. Credit goes to St. Paul’s for punching back after falling behind on each court. Players like Kate Mackenzie, Giorgia Santore, and Linnea Dreslin showed great fire at the net after a week of practice on this concept.
Big Green continued to find success during the singles sequence. Natalia Sander’s rode her big first serve to a steady win at first singles. Avery Brooker followed suit earning a decisive second singles win with impenetrable baseline play. Maggie Molson and Devon Coleman both played tremendous matches, not surrendering a single game between them at their respective singles positions.
The team improves to 4-5 and looks ahead to the season’s final stretch, starting with an away match at Loomis-Chaffee on Saturday.
