Deerfield emerged victorious in the opening game of the season on the road against Williston 26-10. The Deerfield defense was stingy all night and caused 3 turnovers and scored a touchdown. Leading 20-10 in the 4th quarter, Williston had the ball on Deerfield’s side of the field looking to score. SS Caden True stepped in front of a pass, got the interception, and returned it 95 yards for the touchdown, sealing the victory for the Big Green. CB Will Machnik had his first career interception in the 1st quarter and ILB Tommy Schwartz recovered a fumble in the 2nd quarter. On offense, RBs Zell Lassiter and Malachi Costello each had rushing touchdowns and TE Willem Thurber caught a 38 yards touchdown from QB Cole Geer. The Deerfield offensive line, led by LT CJ Williams, was dominate all night long.
