The girls cross country team had a perfect day for their first meet of the season: clear blue skies, a cool wind, and enthusiastic supporters. The most exciting part of the day was that both returners and newcomers to the team had great races, with Tatum Lowe ’25, Larrabee Pollack ’23, Fiona Howes ’23, and Kaitlyn Xia ’24 absolutely smoking their times from last year. And Tene Ouedraogo ’25 came back to cross country this year with the goal of running a race, and she achieved that goal in the first meet of the season! The whole team is extremely proud of her. New runners to the team also had an amazing day, with Lillian Auth ’24 and Alexis Miller ’24 coming first and second in the 5k, respectively. One spectator who watched them sprint down the straight to cross the finish line remarked, “wow, they’re working so hard and doing so well and it’s making me kind of emotional”. Booie Blazak ’24 and Ava Lennon ’24 also crushed their first 3k, and we’re really excited to see what this team can do in the future. Overall, every team that came supported each other, and we are, as always, grateful for Mr. Brush and his long-term support of our program. Plus, the runners love the Clarkdale apples he brings each year!
